Anne Smith Powell, loving music, began singing as a little
girl. As she grew into a young lady her love for music
had also grown. As a teenager Anne auditioned for the
"Farmer Gray" T.V. program in Spartanburg, South
Carolina. She was an instant hit. Along with her brother
Jerry Smith and "The Rhythm Masters", Anne worked the
"Farmer Gray" show for four years. Anne played drums and
sang with the band. Anne and "The Rhythm Masters" backed many country artists and worked shows with people such as the Stoneman Family, Tammy Wynette, Charlie Louvin, George Morgan and many others. Anne, along with "The Rhythm Masters", won the South Carolina Country Music Association awards for "Best of the Show" and "Best Country and Western Band" in 1968. Anne later met Don Powell and in 1975 they were married. In 1980 Anne gave here heart and life to Jesus and together with her husband, began singing gospel music. Together Anne and Don pastor Woodruff Road Worship Center, Inc. Anne plays piano and sings in their church. Anne and her husband Don accept preaching and singing engagements at other churches and venues. Anne's mission in life today is to live for Jesus and tell others about Him through Word and song.
