Reverend Don
Don Powell has loved, and for most of his life, has been
involved in music. Growing up in a family of musicians
Don began singing at a very early age and was playing
guitar at the age of twelve. Don's love for country music
led him to pursue a career in that field. He worked shows
with people such as Ray Pillow, Tammy Wynette, Bill Anderson, and others.
In the late 60's Don traveled extensively with a promotion
company out of Nashville, Tennessee. He opened, and emceed shows
for Tommy Cash (Johnny's brother), Merle Kilgore, and Jimmy Martin
and the Sunny Mountain Boys. After playing night clubs during the
70's, on January 13, 1980 Don gave his heart and life to Jesus.
Needless to say God gave him a new song. Today, with his wife Anne,
Don sings, writes, and plays gospel music. Don answered the call to
preach in 1983. In 1984 he, along with Anne, founded Woodruff Road
Worship Center, Inc., where they still pastor today. Don and Anne
minister in their church every week. They also accept preaching and
singing engagements at other churches and venues. Don's mission in
life today is to reach as many people as possible with the gospel
of Jesus Christ through Word and song.
